More than 1,100 employees at the Epa got notice today that they were considered to be on probationary status and alerting they might be fired immediately, according to an e-mail acquired by CNN.
Probationary workers getting the e-mail have been operating at the company for less than a year. The emails began to go out late on Wednesday afternoon, according to an EPA union official.
The same message will be sent out to other company workforces, a White House authorities stated. Across the US government, the current data programs there are more than 220,000 staff members on probation.
"As a probationary/trial period staff member, the agency has the right to immediately end you pursuant to 5 CFR § 315.804," the EPA e-mail to probationary employees reads. "The procedure for probationary removal is that you receive a notice of termination, and your employment is ended instantly."
"Each worker's status will be determined individually," the e-mail includes.
The e-mail also spells out an appeals process workers can require to see if they are eligible for job additional protection.
